I had a very healthy pregnancy, in fact, healthier than many women I knew at the time who were 10 + years younger than me, who were having severe hip and back pain as well as complications like gestational diabetes. My labour was healthy as well and I even pushed her out in a set of 5 pushes! I felt like I just knew exactly what muscles to use and I remember telling the nurse get the doctor, as I can push her out NOW and she said no it will be a while… After three sets of pushes she ran to grab the doctor! There are so many things you can do physically, but you need to know how to modify. I kept my exercises going and when labour started I pushed my baby out in a series of 5 pushes. I can remember thinking…I’m going to push this baby out NOW. And the nurse said, there is no way I’ll be back in a bit. Then she checked the monitor and rushed to get the doctor!
